This CD is a compilation of live single mic recordings of our family doing what we love, playing music. These are wonderful memories of our dad, brother, and cousin Junior who have since passed away. Songs 1-9 were recorded in 1976 inside the Venne family homestead. Playing bass and harmonizing on the first 9 songs was our brother Roland, who died shortly after this recording. This is the only recording we have of our mom, dad, brother, and us together. The next 6 songs were recorded in 1996 with our mom, dad and Junior Barber in Jr’s garage.
Mastered by Lane Gibson at Lane Gibson Studios
This album is a bit different than our prior albums as we have guest fiddle/mandolin player Harry Ralph appearing on ten of the tracks. Junior uses the C-6 tuning on some old Hank tunes to give them that old-time feel. This album also debuts the first song Junior has written that contains lyrics as well as music. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it.
This album from Beartracks contains fifteen tracks with seven original songs. Five of the originals were written by Julie and two are instrumentals, written by Junior. Julie has also penned two extra verses and a chorus to Carolyn at the broken wheel inn. Six of the remaining seven songs are covers of old bluegrass and country classics and one is a classic gospel tune. We had a great time recording this album and hope you enjoy it.
